If ever there were a spring day so perfect,
so uplifted by a warm intermittent breeze
that it made you want to throw
open all the windows in the house
and unlatch the door to the canary's cage,
indeed, rip the little door from its jamb,
a day when the cool brick paths
and the garden bursting with peonies
seemed so etched in sunlight
that you felt like taking
a hammer to the glass paperweight
on the living room end table,
releasing the inhabitants
from their snow-covered cottage
so they could walk out,
holding hands and squinting
into this larger dome of blue and white,
well, today is just that kind of day.
Drove to Idaho Falls yesterday.
It was a glorious day.
Fields of baby green blades,
willows just getting their new springly greens,
bluest skies EVER going for miles and miles
with the snow topped mountains ready to bring down their
rivers of fresh, clean water.
Awe inspiring.
We get a spring that is later than those in the low lands.
It is a special kind of spring.
Slow.
You slowly celebrate each little event with joy.
Right now my daffodils are bursting forth,
tiny bubbles of leaf on my lilacs, and
tulips are up with a green sheath around the blooms.
I water them every day now.
I can see and feel them stretching,
anxious to open their little faces towards the sun.
An easy excitement is in the air.
I am so very ready for this spring.
When I saw the leaves coming on the willow trees,
I felt joyous, and actually had a few tears.
I hope your day today is as wonderful as mine was yesterday.
Feel the joy,
my little
daffy-dils.
Love to you all!
xoxo
